# CashApp Payment Gateway for WHMCS: Fully Automated, Zero Manual Work

We've launched a **fully automated CashApp payment gateway for WHMCS** so hosting providers and IPTV resellers can accept CashApp payments without the hassle. Secure, reliable, easy to install—and it **automatically matches payments with invoices**, extracts invoice numbers from payment notes, and **marks invoices as paid instantly**. Zero manual work.

This gateway is built by **Desmarter** under **Berisco**. Get it or other WHMCS solutions at [www.desmarter.com](https://www.desmarter.com).

## Why CashApp in WHMCS?

Many clients prefer paying with **CashApp**—especially in hosting and IPTV. Without a proper gateway, you're stuck checking payments manually, matching amounts to invoices, and updating WHMCS by hand. Our gateway **automates the entire flow**: payments are detected, matched to the right invoice, and the invoice is marked paid. You get seamless CashApp integration without the manual hassle.

## Smart Payment Detection: How It Works

### Secure, Reliable, Easy to Install

- **Secure and reliable** – Built for production use with proper validation and safety checks.
- **Easy installation** – Get it running on your WHMCS in minutes; compatible with **WHMCS 7.x and 8.x**.

### Automatic Matching and Processing

- **Automatically matches payments with invoices** – No more guessing which payment belongs to which client.
- **Extracts invoice numbers from payment notes** – When clients add their invoice ID in the CashApp note, the gateway reads it and applies the payment to the correct invoice.
- **Handles all CashApp notification formats** – So you're covered regardless of how notifications are sent.
- **Prevents duplicate processing** – The same payment won’t be applied twice.
- **Processes payments automatically** – **Zero manual work**; the system does it for you.

### Two Ways for Clients to Pay

- **Through the WHMCS system** – Client goes to pay invoice and chooses CashApp; they get clear instructions and reference.
- **Direct CashApp with invoice ID** – Client can send payment directly via CashApp and put the invoice ID in the note; the gateway picks it up and marks the invoice paid.

### Instant Results

- **Marks invoices as paid instantly** – As soon as a valid payment is detected and matched, the invoice status updates in WHMCS. Your client gets confirmation and you get accurate books.

## Who It’s For

- **Hosting providers** – Shared, VPS, reseller, or dedicated hosting selling via WHMCS.
- **IPTV resellers** – Recurring subscriptions and one-time top-ups; many customers prefer CashApp.

Cash App Payment Gateway for WHMCS (Setup Guide)

**Short answer:** WHMCS supports several Australian payment options. eWAY is built in. Stripe's Dynamic Payments module supports Australian BECS Direct Debit from WHMCS v9.0.3. Pin Payments and Square work through third-party modules. Afterpay and Zip need a custom module, and PayID and BPAY are bank transfers, so the job there is automating reconciliation rather than installing a gateway.

If you run a hosting company or subscription service on WHMCS with mostly Australian customers, your gateway mix affects how fast you get paid, how many renewals fail, and how much time goes on matching payments by hand. Here's each option and where custom work is worth it.

## Why gateway choice matters for Australian WHMCS businesses

WHMCS automates invoices, reminders and renewal charges. That only works if your gateway supports **tokenised recurring payments**: the payment details stay with the provider, and WHMCS keeps a token it can charge later.

For Australian businesses, also think about:

- **AUD billing**, so local sales aren't converted.
- **Local habits.** Many customers prefer direct debit, PayID, BPAY or buy now, pay later over cards.
- **Recurring vs one-off.** Some methods can't be stored for automatic renewals.
- **Reconciliation.** Every payment WHMCS can't match itself becomes manual work.

## Gateways WHMCS supports natively

### eWAY

eWAY is an Australian gateway with a native WHMCS module. According to the WHMCS documentation, the current eWAY module uses token payments, so card details are stored in eWAY's PCI DSS environment and WHMCS charges the token for future invoices. The module supports one-time payments, recurring payments, refunds and remote card updates.

You set it up under **Configuration > Apps & Integrations** with your eWAY API key, password and public API key. If you used the older eWAY Rapid 3.1 module, WHMCS has a migration option that moves existing tokens across to the current module.

**Good fit for:** businesses wanting a local gateway with a built-in integration.

### Stripe, including BECS Direct Debit

WHMCS recommends its **Stripe Dynamic Payments** module for Stripe. WHMCS has confirmed that Australian BECS Direct Debit through Stripe is available in this module from **v9.0.3**. That lets customers pay straight from an Australian bank account using their BSB and account number.

A few things to know before you switch it on:

- **Mandates.** Stripe's documentation says BECS payments need a Direct Debit Request (DDR) mandate from the customer, and Stripe can generate it for you.
- **Delayed confirmation.** BECS is a "delayed notification" method. Stripe says it can take up to three business days to find out whether a debit succeeded or failed. Factor this into your suspension and late-fee rules so you don't suspend a service while a payment is still pending.
- **AUD only.** BECS Direct Debit only works in Australian dollars.
- **Extra verification.** Stripe may ask for more identity checks before enabling BECS.
- **Restricted API keys.** WHMCS recommends restricted keys for its Stripe modules, and generates webhook secrets automatically when you save them.

**Good fit for:** recurring hosting or SaaS billing where you want a direct debit option next to cards.

## Gateways that need a third-party module

### Pin Payments

Pin Payments is an Australian payment provider. Its WHMCS integration is a **third-party module developed by Snapfrozen** and listed on the WHMCS Marketplace. The listing describes tokenised payments, support for WHMCS recurring billing, and refunds.

Check its listed WHMCS version compatibility against your version, and if you run a newer release, test it in staging first.

### Square

Square isn't one of WHMCS's built-in gateways, but several Square modules are available on the WHMCS Marketplace. Desmarter, which develops WHMCS modules under Berisco, has also built a [Square payment gateway for WHMCS](/blog/square-payment-gateway-whmcs). When comparing Square modules, check tokenised card storage, refunds, webhooks and WHMCS/PHP compatibility.

## Options that need custom development

### Afterpay and Zip (buy now, pay later)

We couldn't find an official WHMCS module for Afterpay or Zip at the time of writing. Both providers publish merchant APIs, so a custom WHMCS gateway module is possible. There are some important limits, though:

- Stripe's documentation lists Afterpay as **single-use** with **no recurring payments**, and lists Zip as not supporting recurring payments either. Neither can be stored and charged automatically on renewal.
- Through Stripe, Afterpay is listed for **B2C** sales only, which rules out many business-to-business hosting customers.
- Both have transaction limits, so the option should only appear when an invoice falls within them.

That makes BNPL best suited to one-off or upfront invoices, such as annual plans, setup fees or project work, rather than monthly renewals. We cover this in detail in [Afterpay and Zip in WHMCS: what's possible and what needs a custom module](/blog/whmcs-afterpay-zip).

### PayID and BPAY bank transfers

PayID and BPAY are bank payments, not card gateways. Customers pay from their banking app, so WHMCS never sees the payment. The usual approach:

1. Show clear payment instructions on the invoice. For PayID, that's your registered PayID plus the invoice number as the reference. For BPAY, it's your biller code and a customer reference number (CRN) from your bank.
2. Pull transactions from your bank, via a bank feed, export or bank API where your bank offers one.
3. Match each payment to an open WHMCS invoice by reference and amount.
4. Mark matched invoices as paid using the WHMCS API, and send anything unclear to a review queue.

How you build this depends on what data your bank makes available.

## Quick comparison

| Payment method | WHMCS support | Automatic renewals | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| eWAY | Built-in module | Yes (token) | Australian gateway; migration path from eWAY Rapid 3.1 |
| Stripe cards | Built-in (Stripe Dynamic Payments) | Yes (token) | Uses restricted API keys; webhooks set up automatically |
| Stripe BECS Direct Debit | Built-in from v9.0.3 | Yes | AUD only; mandate required; results can take up to three business days |
| Pin Payments | Third-party module (Snapfrozen) | Yes (token) | Check version compatibility |
| Square | Third-party modules | Depends on module | Check tokenisation and refund support |
| Afterpay / Zip | Custom module needed | No | One-off invoices only; eligibility and transaction limits apply |
| PayID / BPAY | Manual by default | Not applicable | Automate with bank-data reconciliation |

## How to choose the right mix

A sensible setup for most Australian WHMCS businesses is one tokenised card gateway (eWAY, Stripe or Pin Payments) for renewals, Stripe BECS for customers who'd rather not use a card, PayID or BPAY with automated matching, and BNPL only on one-off invoices where it fits.

Test in a staging copy of WHMCS first. Run an order, a renewal, a failed payment and a refund before going live.

## How Berisco can help

Berisco builds and customises WHMCS for hosting providers and service businesses, including payment gateway modules, webhooks and billing automation. If you need a gateway WHMCS doesn't support, or want bank transfers matched automatically, see our [WHMCS development services](/services/whmcs-development) or [request a quote](/get-a-quote).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does WHMCS support eWAY?
Yes. WHMCS includes a native eWAY module that uses token payments, so cards are stored with eWAY and renewals can be charged automatically. It supports one-time payments, recurring payments and refunds.

### Can WHMCS take BECS Direct Debit payments in Australia?
Yes, through the Stripe Dynamic Payments module from WHMCS v9.0.3. You'll need BECS enabled on your Stripe account. Payments are in AUD and can take up to three business days to confirm.

### Is there an official Pin Payments module for WHMCS?
Pin Payments points to a third-party module developed by Snapfrozen, which is listed on the WHMCS Marketplace. Check its version compatibility before installing it on a current WHMCS release.

### Can customers pay WHMCS invoices with Afterpay or Zip?
Not out of the box. A custom module can connect to the Afterpay or Zip APIs, but neither supports automatic recurring charges. They suit one-off invoices better than monthly renewals.

### How do I automate PayID and BPAY payments in WHMCS?
Get transaction data from your bank, match each payment to an open invoice by reference and amount, then mark it paid through the WHMCS API. Anything that doesn't match cleanly should go to manual review.

### Which gateway is best for recurring hosting billing in Australia?
Any tokenised gateway with recurring support works well. eWAY and Stripe are both built into WHMCS, and Stripe BECS adds a bank-account option.

Which Australian payment gateways work with WHMCS? eWAY, Pin Payments, Stripe BECS, Square, Afterpay, Zip and PayID/BPAY, and which need custom code.

Australian Payment Gateways for WHMCS: 2026 Guide

Australian Payment Gateways for WHMCS: eWAY, Pin Payments, Stripe BECS, Square, Afterpay, Zip and PayID/BPAY

**Short answer:** WHMCS has no official Afterpay or Zip module. Both providers publish merchant APIs, though, so a custom WHMCS gateway module can let customers pay an invoice with either one. The catch is that neither supports automatic recurring charges, so buy now, pay later suits one-off or upfront invoices, not monthly renewals.

Buy now, pay later (BNPL) is a common way to pay in Australia, and WHMCS users often ask whether they can offer it. Here's what's realistic and what a custom module involves.

## Is there an Afterpay or Zip module for WHMCS?

At the time of writing we couldn't find an official WHMCS module for Afterpay or Zip, and neither appears among WHMCS's built-in payment gateways. You may come across third-party modules that route BNPL payments through another processor. If you do, check the developer's support history, which WHMCS versions it's compatible with, and whether it uses the provider's current API.

If no existing module fits, a custom gateway module is the usual approach. WHMCS has a documented framework for payment gateway modules, and both Afterpay and Zip document their online checkout APIs.

## Two ways to connect BNPL to WHMCS

### Option 1: Directly through the Afterpay or Zip API

You get a merchant account with the provider and build a WHMCS module for their API. This gives the most control over checkout, branding and reporting.

### Option 2: Through a payment processor that offers BNPL

Some processors offer Afterpay and Zip as payment methods inside their own platform. Stripe, for example, lists both for Australian accounts. If you already take cards through that provider, BNPL can sit alongside your existing setup.

Either way, the provider decides which merchants are eligible. Check eligibility for your business type before any development starts.

## How the payment flow works

Both providers use a redirect-and-confirm flow. In plain terms:

1. **The customer chooses Afterpay or Zip on a WHMCS invoice.** The module creates a checkout with the provider, sending the invoice amount, currency (AUD) and the invoice number as the reference.
2. **The customer is redirected to the provider.** They log in, pass the provider's own approval checks and accept a repayment plan.
3. **The customer returns to WHMCS.** The provider sends back a token or checkout ID and a status.
4. **The module confirms the payment on the server.** For Afterpay, that means a capture call. Afterpay's docs say this must happen within a set window after checkout. For Zip, the module creates a charge against the approved checkout.
5. **WHMCS records the payment.** The module's callback validates the response, checks the invoice ID, makes sure the transaction hasn't already been recorded, logs it and adds the payment to the invoice.

Afterpay also offers deferred capture, where you authorise first and capture later. Its docs note that authorisations expire after a fixed period. For most WHMCS invoices, immediate capture is simpler.

## The big limitation: recurring billing

This is the part that matters most for hosting, domains and SaaS.

WHMCS automates renewals by charging a stored payment method on the due date. BNPL doesn't work that way. Each purchase needs the customer to log in and approve a new plan with the provider. Stripe's documentation lists Afterpay as single-use with no recurring payments, and lists Zip as not supporting recurring payments.

In practice:

- **Every renewal invoice needs the customer to act.** They have to click through and approve Afterpay or Zip each time. WHMCS can't charge it automatically.
- **Monthly hosting is a poor fit.** Asking someone to approve a new BNPL plan every month adds friction rather than removing it.
- **Annual or upfront invoices fit better.** These include yearly hosting plans, multi-year domain bundles, setup fees, website builds and other one-off project invoices.

A good custom module can handle this by only showing BNPL on invoices where it makes sense. For example, it can hide BNPL on invoices that are part of an automatic monthly renewal, or only show it above a minimum amount.

## Other rules to plan for

### Transaction limits
Each provider sets minimum and maximum amounts, and these vary by product and can change. Your module should check the invoice total against the current limits and hide the option when the invoice falls outside them.

### Who you sell to
Stripe lists Afterpay as available for B2C sales only, not B2B. If most of your WHMCS customers are businesses, check this carefully with your provider before you build anything.

### Restricted business categories
Afterpay and Zip both publish lists of prohibited and restricted business types. Check them before building.

### Refunds and disputes
Refunds and disputes have time limits set by each provider. Your module should support refunds from the WHMCS admin area (WHMCS gateway modules can include a refund function), so a refund in WHMCS also refunds the BNPL plan.

### Branding and messaging
Both providers have branding guidelines for how their names and logos appear on your site. Follow them on your order form and invoice pages.

### Regulation
Since 10 June 2025, BNPL providers in Australia have needed an Australian credit licence, according to ASIC. Most of those obligations sit with the provider, not the merchant, but always follow your merchant agreement and the provider's guidance on how you present their product.

## What a well-built custom module should include

If you decide to go ahead, here's a practical checklist:

- **Sandbox first.** Build and test against the provider's sandbox before going live.
- **Server-side verification.** Never mark an invoice paid just because the customer landed on a "success" URL. Confirm the payment status with the provider's API on the server.
- **Duplicate protection.** Check the transaction ID before adding a payment, so a repeated callback can't record it twice.
- **Clear logging.** Log every request and response in the WHMCS gateway log.
- **Amount and currency checks.** Confirm the captured amount and AUD currency match the invoice.
- **Eligibility rules.** Show BNPL only on invoices that suit it (amount range, one-off invoices, customer type).
- **Refund support.** Let staff refund from WHMCS, with the result synced back.
- **Graceful declines.** If the provider declines, send the customer back to the invoice with your other payment options still visible.

## Alternatives worth considering

If recurring billing is your main concern, BNPL may not be the right tool. For Australian customers, these options often suit renewals better:

- **Tokenised card gateways** such as eWAY or Stripe, which can charge renewals automatically.
- **Stripe BECS Direct Debit**, available in WHMCS's Stripe Dynamic Payments module from v9.0.3, for customers who'd rather pay from their bank account.
- **PayID or BPAY with automated reconciliation**, for customers who prefer bank transfers.

Our guide to [Australian payment gateways for WHMCS](/blog/australian-payment-gateways-whmcs) compares all of these.

## How Berisco can help

Berisco develops custom WHMCS modules, including payment gateways, webhooks and billing automation. We also build e-commerce websites where BNPL is often a natural fit. If you want to know whether Afterpay or Zip makes sense for your WHMCS setup, see our [WHMCS development services](/services/whmcs-development) or [request a quote](/get-a-quote).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does WHMCS support Afterpay?
Not out of the box. A custom gateway module can connect to the Afterpay API, or to a processor that offers Afterpay.

### Can Zip be used for WHMCS recurring billing?
Not automatically. Zip payments need the customer to approve each purchase, so WHMCS can't charge renewals by itself. Customers can still pay individual renewal invoices with Zip if your module offers it.

### Is Afterpay suitable for web hosting payments?
It suits annual plans, setup fees and one-off project invoices better than monthly hosting. Check eligibility too: Stripe lists Afterpay as available for business-to-consumer sales only.

### Do I need a merchant account with Afterpay or Zip?
Yes. Either apply directly with the provider or turn the method on through a processor that offers it, such as Stripe. The provider decides whether your business is eligible.

### How does WHMCS know a BNPL payment succeeded?
A properly built module checks the payment status with the provider on the server. It then validates the invoice, checks for duplicate transactions, and records the payment in WHMCS automatically.

### What's a better option for automatic renewals in Australia?
A tokenised card gateway such as eWAY or Stripe, or Stripe BECS Direct Debit. All of these can charge renewals without the customer having to log in.

Can WHMCS take Afterpay or Zip? There's no official module. See what a custom gateway can do, the recurring-billing limits, and how to set it up properly.
